Adamjee Cantonment Public School (ACPS) is a prominent educational institution located in Dhaka Cantonment, Bangladesh. Established in 1960, it has a rich history and continues to play a significant role in the country's educational landscape.

History and Development

ACPS was founded in 1960, initially following the curriculum of British public schools. The first principal was Mr. George Dolman, a British educationist. The school started with classes ranging from four to nine, and the first batch of students appeared for the Matriculation Examination in 1962. As the institution expanded, it was upgraded to a college and renamed Adamjee Cantonment College. In 1995, for administrative reasons, the school section was separated and relocated to its current premises, reinstating its original name, Adamjee Cantonment Public School.

Campus and Facilities

The school is situated on a 5-acre campus in the heart of Dhaka Cantonment. It comprises two main buildings: one six-storied and the other five-storied. The institution operates in two shifts—morning and day—to accommodate its large student body of approximately 7,500 students. ACPS offers both Bangla and English versions of the national curriculum, catering to diverse educational needs.

Extracurricular Activities

Beyond academics, ACPS emphasizes extracurricular engagement, hosting over 18 clubs that cater to a wide range of interests. Notable among these is the ACPS Club of Mathematics (ACPSCM), established in 2017, which fosters a passion for mathematics through regular sessions, competitions, and creative learning initiatives. The club has achieved recognition in various national mathematics competitions and organizes events like the Intra-Adamjee Mathematician Hunt and chess tournaments.

Another significant organization is the Adamjee Cantonment Public School I.T. Club (ACPSITC), founded in 2015. This club aims to empower students with digital skills and inspire innovation in information technology. It has organized events such as the ACPS IT Carnival and various gaming tournaments, providing platforms for students to engage in programming, gaming, and digital innovation.

Administration and Oversight

ACPS operates under the supervision of the Bangladesh Army, ensuring a disciplined and structured educational environment. The school's motto, "Education, Discipline, and Character," reflects its commitment to holistic student development.
